How to remove shortcut arrow mark from icons in windows?


In Windows we add our most used application shortcuts to our desktop. usually we want out desktop to be organized and to look clean because each time we turn on our computer, Desktop is the place where land. In desktop there is a annoying feature, that is in each Shortcut icon to an application there is a shortcut mark. Some of us may find it ugly. Even though it serves a function that is indicating the shortcuts, we may like to remove it.

So How to Remove Shortcut Mark from Windows icon?

Here is a  trick to remove.
1) Go to start menu and type regedit. Then open it.
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionexplorer 
3)Under the Explorer create a new Key called: Shell Icons (by right clicking and selecting new>key)
4)In Shell Icons, create a new String Value (REG_SZ) called: 29 
(by right clicking and selecting new> String value)
5) Assign to the setting of 29 the value of: %SystemRoot%System32shell32.dll,50
(by right clicking on the string value and selecting modify)
6) After you have edited, logoff and login again. Shortcut arrow mark will be removed from the icons.
Note: This trick is tested in windows 7.
In Vista the path requires a double backslash.  %SystemRoot%\System32shell32.dll,50.  Where as in Windows 7 you just need the traditional single thus : %SystemRoot%System32shell32.dll,50.
